چکیده
Abstract. Debris-covered glaciers are commonly found in alpine landscapes of high relief and play an increasingly important role a warming climate. As result the insulating effect supraglacial debris, their response to changes climate is less direct dynamic behaviour more complex than for debris-free glaciers. Due lack observations, here we use numerical modelling explore interactions between debris cover geometry evolution idealized glacier over centennial timescales. The main goal this study understand effects on glacier's transient response. To do so, model that couples ice flow, transport, its surface mass balance thereby captures feedbacks affect volume length evolution. In second step incorporate cryokarst features such as cliffs ponds dynamical behaviour. Our indicates thick delays both especially signal. Including dynamics therefore results with extended debris-covered tongues tend advance or stagnate fluctuating at century timescales hence remember cold periods warm. However, when including even relatively small amount melt enhancing model, responsive substantial loss thinning tongues, also observed.

Obliquity-paced climate change recorded in Antarctic debris-covered glaciers
The degree to which debris-covered glaciers record past environmental conditions is debated. Here we describe a novel palaeoclimate archive derived from the surface morphology and internal debris within cold-based debris-covered glaciers in Antarctica. Results show that subtle changes in mass balance impart major changes in the concentration of englacial debris and corresponding surface topogra...
متن کاملThe Effect of Coking on Kinetics of HDS Reaction under Steady and Transient States
A study was made of the coking of a commercial fresh sulfide Ni-Mo/Al2O3 catalyst in a fixed-bed reactor. The catalyst was coked using different coke precursors in the gas oil under accelerated conditions at temperatures of 400 to 450°C to yield different deactivated catalysts containing 2-20 wt% C. Two cases were studied; crushed catalyst without diffusional ...

In this study we use visible, short-wave infrared and thermal Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) data validated with high-resolution Quickbird (QB) and Worldview2 (WV2) for mapping debris cover in the eastern Himalaya using two independent approaches: (a) a decision tree algorithm, and (b) texture analysis. The decision tree algorithm was based on multi-spect...
متن کاملDynamics Analysis of the Steady and Transient States of a Nonlinear Piezoelectric Beam by a Finite Element Method
This paper presents a finite element formulation for the dynamics analysis of the steady and transient states of a nonlinear piezoelectric beam. A piezoelectric beam with damping is studied under harmonic excitation. A numerical method is used for this analysis. In the paper, the central difference formula of four order is used and compared with the central difference formula of two order in th...
